Tivo Remote Flashing Yellow? A Quick Guide to Fix The Issue
Tivo remote plays a major part in the user’s comfort, but it is a little complex until the user understands it. The remote has both IR and RF modes, backlight, and accepts voice commands. Its flashing amber light will signal the user what needs to be done, and this article discusses the Tivo remote flashing Amber (yellow).
Why is Tivo Remote Flashing Yellow?
The Tivo remote will flash in yellow five times to indicate that it is in RF mode, and the user can use it in long-range, and it doesn’t necessarily have to point to the Tivo box.
In addition, the Tivo remote will flash three times when its battery is low and five times when it tries to pair with the box.
How to Fix a Yellow Flashing Tivo Remote?
The Tivo remote flashes yellow (amber) three times when the battery is low, and the yellow flashing will stop immediately when the batteries are replaced.
When the amber light flashes five times on Tivo remote, either the remote tries to pair with the Tivo box or the remote is in RF mode. To address this issue, the user must know whether the Tivo box is paired with the remote. If the remote or the box is new, it must be paired.
Pairing the Tivo Box and the Remote
- Go to the menu by pressing the Tivo button on the remote.
- Select Menu and then Settings
- Select Settings.
- Select Remote, CableCARD & Devices.
- Select Remote Control Setup. Then pair.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Once paired, the 5-time amber flashing will stop. The next flashing issue is to indicate the remote is in RF mode. This is not an issue; the remote should be programmed to work in RF mode if it has not been done.
Activating RF Mode
- Turn on the Tivo box and the remote.
- Simultaneously press and hold the Tivo button + Green D Button for 3 seconds.
- The amber light will flash five times, indicating the RF Mode.
The RF mode can also be activated through the remote control setup in the settings menu.
